Learners Permit Course
All sessions are 4 hours duration to maximise skill development and minimise fatigue.
Our greater experience has shown us that this results in more productive learning.
We operate 7 days a week including evenings under lights.
Stage 1 - Basic Motorcycle Riding Skills.
- Start the bike and ride without stalling.
- Control the bike at low speed.
- Balance and posture.
- Change gears.
- Corners and braking.
Experienced riders may to be able to skip this session. If in doubt, ask when booking.
Session times:Everyday, except Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 am - 12 pm, 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Stage 2 - Theory of Motorcycling.
- Hazard perception and avoidance.
- Defensive riding.
- Being visible.
- Breaking and cornering.
- Bike maintenance.
A written Test (KT 1) based on the booklet Victorian Rider, is taken at the end of the session. If you don't have a car licence there is a further written test (KT 2) to be done.
Session times:Wednesdays 6 pm - 10 pm, Saturday 8.00 am - 12.00 pm and Sundays 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
Stage 3 - Revision and Test.
- Revision of balance, posture, gears, etc.
- Cornering
- Quick breaking
- Learner Permit Test
Everyday except Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
Other sessions may be available according to demand.
Times may be seasonally adjusted.

Licence Course

Stage 7 - Skills Enhancement.
- Setting up your bike
- Low speed control
- Counter steering
- Emergency braking
- Cornering technique
- Defensive theory
Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm and Weekends 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
Stage 8 - Revision and Test.
- Road craft theory
- Braking on a corner
- U-turns and swerves
- Practice of test exercises
- Licence test
Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm, 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm and Weekends 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
Other sessions may be available according to demand.

Test Only
Learner Permit and Licence Test Only sessions are only recommended for experienced riders.
As per Vic Roads requirements only 5 minutes is provided to familiarise yourself with the bike.
This service is primarily provided for Students who have allowed their Learner Permit to expire.
The session outline for Test Only is:
- Fill out paperwork
- Select motorcycle or scooter
- Instructor explains test details
- Five minutes riding to familiarize yourself with the bike and test range
- Undergo the test
- Complete the paperwork and issue Permit or Licence
As no training is involved we do not recommend the Licence Test Only as we feel that this is only suitable for highly experienced riders.
Session times:Weekdays based on availability of the testing range and Instructor.

Overseas Licence Conversion
At Motorcycle Motion we understand that you may have obtained your licence overseas.
Vic Roads will recognise some licences without the need for conversion.
For non-recognised countries we offer a Licence Conversion.
We expect that you have some prior riding experience so we have simplified the process:
- Fax or email us a good quality copy of your overseas licence
- If you hold a Victorian Car licence also fax or email a copy to us
- We will arrange the approval from Vic Roads
- We will contact you once approval has been obtained
- Undertake our Stage 2, 3, 7 & 8 sessions
- Pass the written and riding tests
- We issue a full Victorian motorcycle licence

It is important that you contact us to confirm your eligibility to convert your overseas licence.
Private Lessons
These sessions are a minimum of 2 hours duration.
These sessions are tailored according to the riders need and may include:
- Remedial training
- Riders returning to motorcycling
- Stepping up to a larger bike
- Specific needs - e.g. geared bike conversion
- On-road supervised training
- Advanced road riding skills
- Skills assessment
Generally lessons are mid-week and will begin on the training range.
Students may wish to use their own bike on the range or road
